A 99-year-old widow has gone on a trip down memory lane, hopping into the back of the same 1935 black Morris saloon that took her to her own wedding some 80 years ago.
According to the Daily Mirror, Lily Stephens was driven to her wedding aged just 20 in the car, which belonged to her neighbour. The vehicle later ended up being stored in a barn, rusting away, but has just been restored and Lily’s neighbours asked her if she’d like another ride in it.
“It was wonderful to sit in the back seat again – I just wish my husband Wilf had been with me. We drove past the church and went to the house where I was born – it was lovely to see it again,” she said.
Lily was accompanied on the day trip by her niece Maureen and villagers have now planned to take her on another outing in the classic car when she turns 100 next year.
