Couple Arrive In Military Car For 1916 Theme Wedding

There are certain ceremonies where you know the perfect wedding car hire will be something a little more out of the ordinary, and for one couple whose wedding was based around a spectacular 1916 theme, the transport for their big day was definitely something their guests wouldn’t forget in a hurry.

Irish couple Mark White and Kerwin Villabolos decided to get married on the popular programme Don’t Tell The Bride, and while Kerwin was after a “white, modern, sleek and classy” look with a fabulously stylish wedding car, according to the Mirror, Mark opted for something a little more outside the box.

While his 1916 theme was based around Easter Rising – an armed insurrection 100 years ago that helped bring an end to British rule over Ireland – is perhaps an unusual choice for a wedding ceremony, Mark had the idea as a way of showing the changes that had come about in Ireland over the last century.

He had originally wanted to hire a tank to bring Kerwin to the ceremony, however, that would have required permission from Dublin council and roads to be closed. Instead, he opted for an almost as impressive 1940s military vehicle, which must have been quite confusing for Kerwin not having any idea about the theme of the wedding.

With gay marriage made legal in a referendum last year, and the pair the first gay couple to feature on Ireland’s version of the programme, Mark said: “I probably would’ve been burnt at the stake 100 years ago for being gay so it’s amazing now that two men can stand up and tell the world they love each other and legally get married here.”
