Would You Hire Family Or Friends As A Wedding Photographer?

We all know the drill when it comes to planning a wedding and sticking within budget – sometimes you have to make savings in some areas to spend on something you’re passionate about – like the best wedding car hire Manchester has to offer!

The question is – who can you trust with producing the physical memories of the happiest day of your life? According to Popular Photography, more and more couples are choosing to hire family or friends as a wedding photographer, instead of a pro.

The poll found that one in three were planning to hire an amateur photographer to capture their day on film, choosing someone they know not only for a friendly face behind the lens, but also a cut rate (or even a pro bono shoot!)

The real question is: is it a good idea for you? In the same poll, some one in five said they regretted skimping on the cost and wish they had better photos – that might make for some awkwardness the next time you have to see this friend or relative. Is it worth putting the relationship on the line and risking rubbish wedding photos?

A good wedding photographer is also much more than just someone pressing a button – they know how and where to set a good scene, are used to wrangling semi-tipsy relatives and are experienced at incorporating it seamlessly into your day, without taking up too much of your time.

Weigh your pros and cons on the matter, but at the end of the day, splashing out on a fancy dress is only so good when you’ve got poor quality images to showcase it!
