How To Propose On A Leap Year

February 29th, the day when women traditionally propose to men, is just around the corner so if you’re hanging around waiting for a proposal, why don’t you take matters into your own hands and get down on one knee yourself? Here are a few tips to help you get it right next Monday.

Keep it fun

It’s definitely going to be nerve-wracking being the one to pop the question, so settle yourself by lightening the atmosphere and doing something fun before you propose. What about coming up with an activity you know he’ll love and take it from there. Remember it’s all about him on the 29th, not you!

Forget about the rings

Don’t go ring shopping for the proposal – that’s something fun you both can do together afterwards. Instead, why not get him something romantic that he can keep like some fancy cufflinks or an engraved watch instead.

Keep it private

We’ve all seen grandiose declarations of love when people propose in films and on TV, but we’d suggest keeping your proposal private, just between the two of you. You’re more likely to go through with it and if he says no, you won’t be too embarrassed.

Speaking of no…

Don’t worry if he does say no. Talk to him about it and ask him why he doesn’t want to. There may be some very good reasons that you haven’t thought about. Perhaps he wanted to propose to you and you stole his thunder!
