Cancer Survivor Has Dream Wedding Live On This Morning

When Annie Cain was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer, she had to cancel her wedding with fiancé Gareth Lewis.

However, one year after she had her operation, the blushing bride tied the knot live on TV thanks to a competition on This Morning to win a wedding.

The This Morning Throws A Wedding contest launched last November, and since then the show’s experts have been on hand to help the loved-up couple create their perfect day. Gok Wan designed Annie’s beautiful dress, while celebrity chef Phil Vickery created the wedding menu, and make-up artist Bryony Blake brought out the bride’s natural beauty.

The couple also had a luxury wedding car to take the bride to the ceremony on a boat cruising down the River Thames, where This Morning’s hosts Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby joined them for their reception.

Annie, 40, reminded audiences of the significance of this special day, saying: “It’s a year today that I had the operation so it’s really surreal and special.”

She added that they had to cancel their wedding following her diagnosis, as “I needed to focus on fighting the cancer and beating it”.

The couple celebrated the special day with Annie’s son, Freddie, and daughter, Freya, from her first marriage, as well as their three-year-old son, Gethin.

After a very emotional ceremony, the couple enjoyed a joyful reception where Peter Andre sang their first song “Fly Me To The Moon”.

It was a happy ending for the loved-up pair, after Annie told the nation she “never would have gotten through it without Gareth”.

Couples who are considering what wedding car to hire might be interested in Bentleys, Aston Martins and Rolls-Royce Silver Shadows, as these have proved extremely popular with celebrity brides and grooms over the last few years. Indeed, supermodel Kate Moss hired six Silver Shadows for her big day in 2011.
